FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are questions you might have about OCS, LLC.  If you need additional information please contact 678-408-0616.

WHAT IS THERAPY?

Therapy, also known as psychotherapy or counseling, is a process that involves a trained professional helping an individual or family work through and understand their problems.  These might include depression, anxiety, stress, family difficulties, alcohol/drug problems, or work-related issues.  The goal of psychotherapy is not to change you, change is your choice, but to build awareness, understanding, respect, empathy, and acceptance toward yourself and others.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FIRST SESSION?

The first session is a 55-minute initial intake.  The primary goal of an intake appointment is information gathering.  I will ask you questions regarding your motivation for seeking treatment, the goals you would like to achieve in therapy, and any background information that may assist me in treatment planning.  You also have an opportunity to assess your level of comfort with me and inquire about my treatment approach.  Attending an initial consultation does not obligate you to enter into a therapy relationship with me.  If we determine that my services are a good match for you, we will discuss the scheduling of regular therapy sessions.

HOW LONG CAN I EXPECT TO BE IN THERAPY?

The length of therapy varies according to the nature, duration, intensity, and frequency of the symptoms or problems.  OCS offers 45-55 minutes sessions, and typically recommends that clients come once per week until we get to know one another.  Some clients come for a few sessions and others come for a year or more.  You and your therapist will decide together what may be the best course of treatment for you.

HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?

Your initial intake appointment and psychotherapy sessions are 45-55 minutes.  For assessments and evaluations, sessions are approximately 1-1.5 hours.

HOW TO CANCEL A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT

You can cancel a scheduled appointment by calling or texting 678-408-0616.  Please do not notify me by email of a cancellation or request to reschedule.  Please notify me of your intentions to cancel or reschedule your appointment within 24-48 hours so that someone else will have the opportunity to take your time slot.  You will never be charged for a cancellation if it is made within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment time.  As much advanced notice as possible is greatly appreciated.  If you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours notice, your card on file will be charged $50 for that missed appointment.  If you simply do not show up for a scheduled appointment, you will be charged for that missed appointment.  *Exceptions will be made for emergency situations.

This cancellation policy is standard in the medical and mental health fields and will be strictly enforced.
